SANYANG

An incredible toponym Sanyang exists in Gambia as a village. Its incredibleness lies in the fact that the Kartvelian prefix "Sa-", used to construct toponyms, is combined in this name with the root "nyang", meaning crocodile in the Georgian language. Thus, "Sanyang" from the Georgian language is literally translated as "crocodile place". The word "nyang" means "crocodile" in local African languages, both in the west of the continent and in the east (Wolof, in particular). And its presence in the Georgian language is an additional proof of the veracity of Herodotus's stories about the connection between Africa and Colchis. In the Arabic, Persian and Turkic languages, intermediate between Africa and Georgia, words similar to "nyang" in the meaning "crocodile" have not been recorded. ANd there are no crocodiles in Georgia. The closet place is Egypt.
