A river with this name flows in the Bryansk and Chernigov regions. The name is translated from Georgian by Chubinashvili as "overcoming". It may relate to the river, or it may leave room for doubt. But a little additional research of this Kartvelian root brings us closer to water.
As a synonym for "revna" Chubinashvili indicates the cognate "morevna" (მორევნა), which in Chanturia's dictionary, in turn, already has as a synonym the word "moreva" (მორევა). And the latter is an obvious cognate word with "morevi" (მორევა), which is a "whirlpool", an absolutely river word.
