REUCACHALI

A very interesting toponym is present as the name of a tribe on Ptolemy's map in the Ukrainian east - Reucachali. For a kartvelologist, the word is interesting due to the possible presence in it of the fundamental Georgian word "akhali" (ახალი), meaning "new". As for the "revka" root, Dahl's dictionary gives it as "coniferous forest, pine forest and spruce forest". In the Sumy region there is a village of Revki. To this we can add the Ukrainian surnames Revko and Revenko. It is also possible that the Georgian word "revna", which is the name of a Ukrainian river in the Chernigov region, is cognate.

From the Georgian side, it is also worth mentioning the Georgian king Rev, son of Mirian, to whom the Georgian name Revaz and the Georgian surname Revishvili may be related. In general, the history of the "Revcachali" tribe remains a mystery.
