LUBNY

The city of Lubny is located in the Poltava region on the Sula River, not far from the village of Mgar. Poltava, Sula, and Mgar are all present in our dictionary of world Kartvelian toponyms with interpretations of varying degrees of probability. The word "Lubny" itself is an impeccable Old Kartvelian toponymic construction "lub + n + i", which is translated as "the Lubes", the plural of the nationality "Lub".

In Ukraine, as well as neighboring Belarus, Poland and Germany, such "lub"- toponyms are innumerous.
