KREMNIOI

Herodotus reports that the city of Kremnoi on the Ukrainian coast of the Sea of Azov was the eastern border of the settlement area of the Royal Scythians. The name comes from the Greek word "kremnos" - "precipice" (by the way, there is a village with this name on the coast of the Sea of Azov today - Obriv), which, in turn, may be related to the Kartvelian "garami", meaning the same thing. Both words, outwardly distant from each other, come together in the toponym Crimea (Kirim), which in the "Primary Chronicle" is called "Garmati Tavriani".
