BOLVA

The name of the river in the Bryansk region of Russia is Georgian as in the Chubinashvili's dictionary, "bolva" (ბოლვა) means "smoking". This seems to be quite relevant to a river, given the traditions of smoking fish in Ukraine. "Bolvila" (ბოლვილა) in Georgian is precisely "smoked fish". In Ukrainian (neither in Russia) "bolva" does not have any meaning. Note many more Ukrainian rivers with similar Georgian names: Chechva, Revna, Chakva, Ponikva.
