BASTIA

The name of the main city of Corsica contains the same toponym as the Bastetani tribe in Spain and the Bastarni in Ukraine, as well as the ancient Kartvelian name of the Turkish Sivas - Sabaste. The kartvelianity of the constructions "bastarni", "bastetani", "bastuli" and "sabaste" is beyond doubt. In this regard, it is worth noting the great similarity of Corsican and Georgian choral polyphony, traditionally noted by musicologists. The "-ia" ending is very typical for Megrelian surnames.
