BASTETANI & BASTULI

The southern Spanish Iberian tribe Bastetani (Ptolemy), as well as a whole group of similar names, derive from the toponym "Basteti", which, in turn, is translated from Kartvelian as "land of the Basti". The capital of the Bastetani was Malaga, a city with a Kartvelian meaning too.

Another tribe - "Bastetuli" - is also an adjective formed out of that same "basti" root. Only if "Bastuli" is formed directly from the word "basti" and is translated as "Bastian", then "Bastetani" is formed from the name of the country of the Basti - Basteti - and is translated as "Bastetian" (by analogy with "Kakhetian"). These two are the same tribe.
