AVIGNON

The name of this city is pronounced [avinion]. Considering that it was known in Latin as "Avenio", we have a right (or rather, an obligation) to assume that the original word was a Kartvelian adjective "avenioni", derived from "avena", which, in turn, translates as "evil-tongued". Please note that the Georgian dictionary contains a very similar adjective "aveniani" in the same meaning as "evil-tongued".
