TERMESSOS

One of the few cities that did not submit to Alexander the Great was the Anatolian Termessos. According to the formula “-essos” = “-eti”, which has already been used many times, we rewrite the name as “Termeti”, that is, “land of the termi”. The root of the word is most likely the root of the words “თერმია” [termia] or “თერმუზი” [termuzi], meaning “lupine” or “wolf bean”. This plant was not only considered edible, but was also a source for the production of a coffee-like drink. And the Aegean coast of Turkey is its natural habitat.

Spain has its own “Termeti”. This is the ancient city of Termedo, today’s Griyo near Guadalajara.

And again, as it was in case of Telmessos, we need to consider that "term-" is a reduced form of "terami", a Megrelian adjective made out of "teri" - "enemy". Thus, "Termeti" would mean "place of enemies".
