SUANETI

Giovanni Oberziner in his book "Wars of Emperor Augustus against the peoples of the Alps" tells about the Suaneti people, mentioned in the Alpine Trophy (Trofeo delle Alpi). There are two versions regarding the place of residence of the Suaneti: Val Choms in the Swiss canton Grigioni and Val Soane in Piedmont. There were even hypotheses about the migration of the Suaneti from one valley to another. Be that as it may, such a tribe clearly existed, and its name absolutely coincides with the Georgian toponym "Svaneti", the land of the legendary Svans. Especially in light of the considerable number of kartvelisms in the Italian and Swiss Alps.
