SALMUDESSOS

Another Anatolian toponym ending in "-essos" is ancient Salmudessos reportedly on the outskirts of Istanbul (actually, the reports are not good, learn more within our project). Or "Salmudeti", "land of the almudi", if we interpret the Greek ending "-essos" as the Georgian "-eti". What "almudi" means is unknown, but the root has a clear relation to the Spanish toponym Almudena (which, in turn, end with a Kartvelian ena-ending).
