Regarding the origin of the name of the village of Prilbici in the Lviv region, two versions deserve attention, the first of which is scientifically substantiated in the work of M. Khudash "The History of Ukrainian Carpathian and Subcarpathian Names of Settlements". In it, the author explains the origin of the name of the village from "formation with the prefix "pri-", the root "-lb-" and the suffix "-itsa". In the second version, the original word is "Lbitsia" - the probable name of the mountain, which today is part of the village of Velyka Gora.
By the way, in archival documents ("Acti Grodzki і Zemski") there are variants of the name Prilbici and Prilbitsia. All this is to say that the root "lb" in the names "Prilbici", "Prilbitsia" and "Lbitsia" may be related to the tribe of "Lubes", traces of which are scattered in huge quantities throughout Ukraine. Taking into account this possible origin of the root, as well as the presence of two more villages with the same name Livchitsi in the same Lviv region, the chances of the root of Lviv itself having the same origin - from the ancient Kartvelian-speaking nation of Lubes - increase. The vowel between "l" and "b" in "Prilbici" and between "l" and "v" in "Lviv" dropped out for the same reason as in the word "Albania". Moreover, in "Lviv" its rudiment has been preserved in the form of a soft sign.
