PECORA

Many words in our Kartvelian etymological dictionary seem far-fetched but still impeccably argumented.

Do you consider a sheep a symbol of beauty?

"..Chinese people still like sheep as a symbol of beauty...". "...The Chinese still consider the sheep a symbol of beauty...".
The wonderful pecorino sheep cheese owes its etymology to the Latin sheep - "pecora". We have the right to read this word not only as [pekora], but also as [petsora]. The history of the Latin letter "c" will tell you why.

Meanwhile პეწორი [petsori] is a Megrelian adjective from the word პეწი, which means "beautiful appearance" and "beauty" in Georgian.
