NAGUEVICHI

The birthplace of the Ukrainian writer Ivan Franko, the village of Naguevichi, attracts attention because it contains the Kartvelian toponymic construction "na + <root> + evi", translated as "the place where <root> used to be". The probability of the hypothesis is increased by the fact that the root here is not only Kartvelian, but also toponymic.

The word "gu" is translated from Megrelian as "owl", and in Racha there is a village with this very name - Gu. So, "naguevi" = "where owls used to be".
