MILETUS

The legendary Greek city of Miletus in Asia Minor is a Kartvelian toponym for a simple reason: the people who lived around the city were called "miliae" by Herodotus. And the Kartvelian ending "-et" in this case served to make the name of the people into the name of their country: "მილი + ეთი" = მილეთი. In Georgian "mili" (მილი) means "pipe". How to tie this to the city is still an open question.
