LIRNESSOS

This was the name of an ancient city in the Anatolian country of Mysia (traditionally called [misia], but since in Greek the name was written with an upsilon, it is [musia]). "Lyrnessos" is also written with an upsilon, and ends in "-essos", which, as already explained, corresponds to the Kartvelian ending "-eti". Thus, "Lurneti".

This word means "land of Lurni" (the letter "n" in the name is the Old Kartvelian plural suffix), while "Luri" is the name of a Western Iranian tribe, which is considered to be descendants of the Elamites.
