The suburb of Galician Ferrol, which is now called San Andrés de Villadonnelle, was previously called "Libuca", which, taking into account the repeatedly described problem of upsilon, gives us the right to interpret the name as "Lubuka", adding it to the list of Spanish "lub"-toponyms ("-uk" is a Georgian diminutive suffix).
It should also be added that Ferrol is an ancient center of Spanish metallurgy like another Kartvelian toponym in Spain - Toledo. At the same time, the main metallurgists of antiquity are generally recognized to be the "Chalybes", the bearers of the root "lub" in Anatolia, who gave the name to the Greek word for "steel" - "χάλυβα".- Home
