"-ISM" SUFFIX

Perhaps everything became clear with the etymology of the suffix "-ism". Its official interpretation is not convincing, to put it mildly. At the same time, the Georgian dictionary contains the word ზმა (zma), the obsolete meaning of which is "doing, acting". That is, "to do", "deed".

"Marxism" = "the work of Marx". "Freudism" = "the work of Freud".

If so, then the construction was originally as follows:

მარკსის ზმა ("Marxis zma", "the work of Marx"), later merged into "Marxism" (the genitive case "-s" ending merged with the "z" by analogy with "-dze" surnames).

Please note that in the official version the final "-a" is also present in Greek variant of the suffix.
