GAVARDA

More than a dozen Spanish toponyms, both existing today and those that remain only on ancient maps, seem to be inexplicably present in real Georgian surnames as roots. But inexplicably only for those who are unfamiliar with the huge number of Spanish toponyms of Kartvelian origin. For example, the small town of Gavarda near Valencia coincides with the root of the surname Gavardashvili. The effect is enhanced by the nearby Xuker River, which has a related village in Georgia - Shukeri.
