The "Chud" tribe, which coexisted with the Eastern Slavs at least since the 12th century, may well be a slightly modified Kartvelian word "tsudi" (ცუდი) - "bad".
"...dictionary materials show that the words "Chud"... are associated with the meanings of "dirty", "alien to any community", "black", "wild"... The word "black" has a number of meanings, of which we will cite the most important for us: "negative, bad", "gloomy, joyless, heavy"...".
As can be seen from the work of I.K. Feoktistova "The Image of Disappeared Aborigines in Russian Legends: A System of Mythological Motifs", the word "Chud" really does mean "bad". Moreover, the soft sign, as is known, is a former vowel, most often the final “i”, and the alternation of “ts” and “ch” is a widely known phenomenon (in Polish language, for example).
