Ptolemy locates a tribe with this name in central Spain. The word includes the Kartvelian toponym "Karpeti", fully corresponding to the similar toponym in Ukraine - "Karpati". The "n" seems to be the redundant addition, quite popular on the Ptolemy's maps.
