The name of this tribe on Ptolemy's map in Spain comes from the toponym "Kareti", which in turn comes from the root "kari", translated from Kartvelian as "wind" or "doors". Note that the ancient and non-Indo-European Caria in southwestern Anatolia is also "Kareti" in Georgian.
