ΆΡΓΥΡ

The Greeks formed adjectives with the suffix "- ur", as can be seen in the word "argur", meaning everything related to silver or money, as in the word "άργΰρ-άγχη" - "bribery". "Silver" itself (as well as "mercury" and "money") was called "άργυρος" [argouros].

The suffix "-ur" is Kartvelian. The word "argouros" ("arguri" in Kartvelian rendering) is an adjective formed from the root "arg", which you will find in the Megrelian dictionary (არღა) in a variety of meanings.
