ΜΌΘΑΚΕΣ

In ancient Sparta there was a caste of people called "μόθακες" [motakes]. They were not of purely Spartan origin but were illegitimate.

In the Kartvelian language we can find not only the personifying prefix "mo-", but also the root "tak", which is present in such words as "თაკილი" ("takili", meaning "delicacy", "reprehensibility"), "მოთაკილე" ("motakile", meaning "arrogant"), "სათაკილო" ("satakilo", meaning "reprehensible", "delicate", and in some contexts - "shameful"). In Greek the word is not divided into a prefix and a root and is translated, for unknown reasons, as "named brother". But we see that in Kartvelian the root has a meaning very close to what the word meant in Greek.
