BEDONIA

Not far from the border between the Italian provinces of Liguria and Emilia lies the town of Bedonia. It has a direct relative in the Dusheti municipality of Georgia – the village of Bedoni. The absence of the final "-a" means nothing. It is an ancient Kartvelian definite article (Klimov). The root of both words is the same – Bedoni, a Laz "-oni"-adjective, added to "bedi" (ბედი), which means "luck" both in Laz and Georgian.
