The name of the mythical ancient people of the Avars is decomposed into "av(i) + ar", a Kartvelian root meaning "bad", and a Svan plural suffix. Thus, "Avar" is not the name of a people, but the name of a country of evil or bad people. It is noteworthy that the Avars did indeed leave behind not the most pleasant memories. Sometimes this tribe is identified as the Scythians. The name of both peoples is additionally translated as "greedy" in different languages. In the case of the "Scythians", this is the Russian word "skupoy" (for proof that the true root of the word "skiff" is "skup", see the article "Scythians" in this book), and in the case of the Avars, these are the adjectives "avaro" and "avaricious" in Spanish and English. In addition, in Ukraine, the Avars are known as "Obry", according to legends, they harnessed Dulebs to ploughs instead of oxen. So, the epithet "bad" really has historical grounds.
It is interesting that today's Caucasian Avars, who may be related to both the ancient Avars and the meaning of the word "avi" in the Georgian language, show their Kartvelianism from the other side. Apparently, the Avars are direct descendants of the disappeared ancient Caucasian Albanians, whom we interpreted as "Lubs". As evidence, the old name of the Avars - "Khalbi" - recorded, as already mentioned, by Trubetskoy and Bekhter and showing the indisputable presence of the Phoenician article "Kha-", which, in turn, gives "lb" as the root of the word
