AS

The Roman pound - "as" - with a great deal of probability is the Georgian แƒแƒกแƒ˜ [asi] - "hundred".

It is difficult to say what the hundredth part of the pound was called. The Roman pounds are usually divided by 12 ounces. But in practice it is reported that the asses almost always weighed 10 ounces, not 12. Thus, "as" is one hundred of the tenth parts of an ounce, whatever they were.
