The surname D'Artagnan comes from the name of the town of Artagnan in Gascony, which borders the Basque country. In Georgia, near Tianeti, there are two villages with the same root: Kvemo Artani and Zemo Artani. Whatever "Artani" means, "Artaniani" is its legitimate derivative.
