Latvia has once again subtly revealed its Kartvelian essence—something long suspected, but now beyond question.
A fascinating postage stamp circulating on Facebook shows that what we know as "Latvia" is called "Lotva" by Poles. This is a pure Megrelian verbal noun, as you can clearly see.
In Otari Kajaia’s dictionary, the word "Lotva" corresponds to "ლოთობა" (lotoba)—meaning "to get drunk, drunkenness." Latvians may not be thrilled by this etymology, but historical truth is what it is.
Why would Latvia, specifically, be associated with drunkenness? The answer lies in a map showing that, unlike neighboring Lithuania and Estonia, Latvia has no age restrictions on alcohol purchases.
