The same list contains a separate column for "wrong people". Those who were mistakenly considered members of Columbus's team. There you will find the surname Eguía [egia] (a district in San Sebastian), which completely coincides with the Megrelian surname ეგია [егиа], originating from Tsalenjikha in Samegrelo-Zemo.
So, Columbus really did have in his crew, if not pure Megrels, then certainly Spanish Iberians who spoke languages of the Kartvelian language family. Thus, in the crew there really was someone to have shouted "Cuba!" instead of "Tierra!" when an island appeared on the horizon...
