LAZARAT

The name of a small town in Albania is interesting not only because it represents an ideal Kartvelian toponymic construction "Laz + ar + at" with the root "laz" and two toponymic suffixes at once, Svan and Zan, but also because it additionally ties the root "laz" to the root "lub", thus identifying the Chalybes as Laz even more strongly. Here is the meaning of the word "lazaret":

"lazaretto, lazaret, lazarette"; "lazar", plague house, hospital for patients with infectious diseases, especially, leprosarium"
And now we go to the dictionary of the Greek language, where we find... "λούβα - "leprosy"!
Thus, the Laz and Lubes are equal to each other through "leprosy", with which, for some reason, both peoples are associated. In Georgian "luba" also means "emaciated".
