ILERGETES

There are several examples in the etymological dictionary of our project where Kartvelian suffixes are combined with non-Kartvelian morphemes (e.g., "словарь" or "Saorejas").

Thus, the name "Ilergetes" on Ptolemy's map in the area of modern Lerida is a combination of the Basque root "ilergi", meaning "bald", and the Kartvelian toponymic suffix "-et". The overall result is "Ilergeti" - "the land of the bald", which neither Spaniards, nor Basques know about.
