Thus, the name "Ilergetes" on Ptolemy's map in the area of modern Lerida is a combination of the Basque root "ilergi", meaning "bald", and the Kartvelian toponymic suffix "-et". The overall result is "Ilergeti" - "the land of the bald", which neither Spaniards, nor Basques know about.
