The town of Gevgelija in Macedonia can be attributed to a whole group of European toponyms that look like Megrelian surnames, and at the same time have Kartvelian roots. In particular, Gevgelija comes from the root "gevgi", which can be found in "The Knight in the Panther's Skin", namely, in the letter of Ramaz to Tariel:
The meaning of the word is unclear, but its existence is recorded in an extremely authoritative source.
