"-AZ" SUFFIX

There is a popular suffix in world etymology "-az", considered, for some reason, Ossetian. Moreover, according to this suffix, Scythians are considered as Iranians and Ossetians. Let me remind you that on a gravestone in Ukrainian Olbia in the first century AD, the name "Sohubaz" was written. It approximately corresponds to the name "Sohubov", because for Ossetians this suffix means belonging.

There is reason to suspect that this possessive suffix "-az" transformed into the popular suffixes "-ets" (Gorets, Zaporozhets, Kanevets, Poltavets), "-ez" (Fernandez, Jimenez, Rodriguez), "-ats" (Antonovac, Divac) and, finally, the famous patronymic Slavic suffix "-ich" - (Petrovich, Karageorgievich).

Most likely, all these are the same morpheme. But why Ossetian? Georgian, of course. In Chanturia's dictionary we have the verbal form აზის (azis), the root of which is precisely "az", and the masdar, apparently, is ესვა or სმია. The translation of "azis" is "sb./sth. has sth. on it" ("something has something"). Possession, which is possessiveness or genitiveness.
