AIA

There are many options for the proud interpretation of the name "Aia" (the ancient name of Kutaisi, capital of Colchis). I must add my own, since it is in its pure form in the dictionary of Kajaia, where, apparently, no one has paid attention to it yet.

This interpretation is impeccable and extremely scientific. In Megrelian, "ai" (აი) is "ერთი", that is, "one". And the final "-a", as has been said many times, is a definite article (Klimov). Thus, "Aia" is "the one" or, more logically, "the first". Etymologically, "ai" is a truncated (something the Megrelians like to do) "arti" - "one".
